ADAM, Oman, June 2, 2026 — XCMG has deployed its advanced digital and intelligent construction solutions on the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road Dualisation Project in Oman, achieving the nation’s first AI-powered autonomous asphalt paving application in road infrastructure construction. Co-organized by Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) and Galfar Engineering & Contracting, the landmark on-site demonstration on May 20 gathered officials from governmental authorities, industry stakeholders and local media witnesses.

As a pivotal strategic infrastructure initiative aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the fourth package of the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road Dualisation Project is designed to upgrade regional road connectivity, optimize traffic efficiency, enhance road safety and elevate the overall standard of Oman’s modern transportation system.
During the demonstration, a fleet of seven XCMG intelligent road construction equipment, including advanced pavers and rollers, completed full-process autonomous asphalt paving and compaction operations on a 12-meter-wide road section. The integrated solution delivers core capabilities including intelligent fleet collaborative control, local private network communication, real-time machine interaction and whole-process construction data monitoring. Tailored for Oman’s extreme desert environment featuring high temperatures, frequent sandstorms and volatile site conditions, XCMG’s intelligent system ensures uninterrupted, stable and standardized construction operations while greatly improving on-site management efficiency.
The harsh desert working conditions in Oman pose stringent challenges to equipment reliability, multi-machine coordination accuracy and all-weather construction adaptability. To fully meet the project’s customized requirements, XCMG Road Machinery Business Unit established a dedicated technical team. Through in-depth customer communication, continuous on-site investigations, repeated technical deliberations and solution validation, XCMG optimized and upgraded its intelligent construction system specifically for desert scenarios, delivering comprehensive, professional technical support for the project’s stable implementation.
The live on-site demonstration fully validated the mature applicability of XCMG’s AI-enabled autonomous paving and intelligent compaction technologies in real-world complex construction scenarios, winning high recognition from Omani transportation authorities, industry clients and local media. Local mainstream media highlighted the landmark deployment as a key milestone in Oman’s infrastructure modernization and digital transformation drive.
The successful project implementation stems from nearly two years of in-depth strategic cooperation between XCMG and Galfar. In 2024, during the 6th XCMG International Customer Festival, a Galfar delegation visited XCMG headquarters to inspect the practical application of XCMG’s intelligent road construction technologies and complete equipment solutions. Subsequently, XCMG’s professional technical team conducted in-depth site surveys and technical assessments in Oman, taking local desert operating environments, communication conditions and industry standards into full consideration to iteratively optimize and verify customized intelligent construction solutions.
Officially put into regular operation on the project in April 2026, the seven-unit XCMG autonomous construction fleet successfully completed the public demonstration on May 20, showcasing stable and reliable intelligent construction performance.
